Thanksgiving is my second favorite holiday (after Christmas of course!) My aunt and uncle come down from Chicago and we all gather together at my grandparent's house to have a big feast. There's always the turkey, potatoes, and cranberry sauce, but instead of eating pumpkin pie, we eat cherry pie. We like to think of it as our little flare on the traditional Thanksgiving meal. My grandma makes it every year and it's delicious.
I have a lot of things to be thankful for. My mom who has always been there for me, my dad who continually teaches me new things, and my brother who is pretty much my best friend. These people continually bring joy and happiness into my life everyday.
Not only am I grateful for my family but also my friends. They continuously support me and have always been by my side. Through thick and thin I always know that I can count on them to be there for me. I don't know what I would do without them!
The wonderful people in my life aren't just the only things I feel thankful for. I am thankful that God has blessed me with a good life by putting a roof over my head and food on the table. I know that there are people that don't have the things that I have been given, so every year my family and I participate in a canned food drive. We go out and buy canned food items to take to a truck where volunteers load them up and send them to a homeless shelter. It brings me happiness to know that families will be given the food that they need during this time of the year.
Here is a recipe that we use to make our Thanksgiving dinner. Try these or any of the other recipes on my other pages and comment down below what you think. Have a happy Thanksgiving!
