It's pumpkin spiced latte season! My favorite time of the year. The time of the year where I am constantly baking and drinking apple and pumpkin everything, and getting ready for the upcoming holidays.
Tanner's Apple Orchard is my favorite place to go and get apple cider doughnuts and homemade fudge. I also love walking through the corn maze and buying pumpkins to carve and decorate.
Apples are my favorite ingredients to use in any dessert. Apple pie, apple cobbler, and my favorite- apple crisp!
Down below I've listed some of my favorite treats to make in the fall:
1. Caramel Bars Ingredients:
1 German chocolate cake mix
1 1/2 sticks of butter
1 bag of caramels
1 (6 oz.) package of chocolate chips
1 small can of evaporated milk
Directions: Melt the caramels and evaporated milk (half). Mix them together. Melt butter and add the rest of the milk. Add the butter and milk mixture to the cake mix. Put half of the cake mix in a 13 x 9 inch pan. Bake it for 5 minutes. Add the caramel and milk mixture. Put the chocolate chips on top and then add the remaining cake mix. Bake for 15-20 minutes. Bake at 350 degrees for a 9 x 13 inch pan
2. Taffy Apples Ingredients:
1 1/3 cups of Eagle brand milk
2 cups of dark brown sugar
1/2 cup of margine
3/4 cup of white corn syrup
a pinch of salt
however many normal sized apples you want
Directions: Combine ingredients in a saucepan. Cook until the mixture starts to boil, stir continuously for 5 minutes. Dip your apples into the mixture. Dip the bottom of the apples into medium ground nuts (optional). Set on a piece of greased wax paper. Place in paper muffin cups.
3. Apple Crunch Ingredients:
1 cup of brown sugar
3/4 cup of oatmeal
1/2 cup of butter
1 cup of flour
1/2 cup of sugar
1 cup of water
2 tbsp. of cornstarch
1/4 tsp. of salt
1 tsp. of cinnamon
1 tsp. of vanilla
4 cups of apples
Directions: Mix the flour, oatmeal, brown sugar, and melted butter together until crumbly. Press half of the mixture into a 9 x 9 inch baking pan. Spread apples over it. Cook together the sugar, cornstarch, salt, cinnamon, and water until it becomes thick. Pour it over the apples, top with remaining crumbs. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
4. Great Pumpkin Dessert Ingredients:
1 (15 oz.) can of solid packed pumpkin
1 (12 oz.) can of evaporated milk
3 eggs
1 cup of sugar
4 tsp. of pumpkin pie spice
1 (18 1/4 oz.) package of yellow cake mix
3/4 cup of butter or margarine (melted)
1 cup of pecans (chopped)
Directions: In a mixing bowl, combine the first 5 ingredients. Transfer it to a greased 13 x 9 inch baking pan. Sprinkle with dry cake mix and drizzle with butter. Top with pecans (this is what makes it great!). Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean. Makes 12-16 servings.
5. Pumpkin Bars Ingredients:
4 eggs
1 cup of oil
1 2/3 cup of sugar
1 can of pumpkin
2 cups of flour
1 tsp. of salt
1 tsp. of baking soda
2 tsp. of baking powder
2 tsp. of cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice
Directions: Mix all of the ingredients with a mixer. Spread in an ungreased jelly roll pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes. Let it cool. Frost with 1 can of cream cheese frosting. Once done baking, cut into bars.
